Malaria Prevention

Mozambique is a malaria-endemic country.

We strongly recommend that all participants seek personalised medical advice prior to travel, ideally through a specialised travel clinic or institute of tropical medicine in their country of residence. These services can provide up-to-date guidance on malaria prevention, including chemoprophylaxis where appropriate.

Preventive measures such as the use of insect repellent, protective clothing, and mosquito nets are also recommended.

Please note that any medical prevention or treatment decisions should be made in consultation with qualified healthcare professionals. The conference organisers do not provide medical guidance but encourage participants to consult the appropriate health authorities.

In case of fever or flu-like symptoms during or after travel, prompt medical attention should be sought.

Mafalala Museum

The Mafalala neighborhood is a historic area and a cradle of political and cultural resistance. It was home to former Mozambican presidents Samora Machel and Joaquim Chissano, footballer Eusébio, writers José Craveirinha and Noémia de Sousa, and many other notable figures—some of whom are depicted in murals throughout the neighborhood. The Mafalala Museum was established in 2019 and has been promoting activities to keep the neighborhood’s history alive and dynamic.

Maputo Crafts, Flowers and Gastronomy Fair, is a permanent Municipal Fair, located in the garden of Parque dos Continuadores in Maputo.

Tunduru Gardens

This beautiful green oasis amidst the concrete was created in 1885 by the English landscape architect Thomas Honney, who designed the gardens for the King of Greece and the Sultan of Turkey. Home to a variety of exotic and native plant species, the site is perfect for a walk or for relaxing beneath the shade of leafy trees.
